In the same way that you choose your postcard printing company, your designer selection is one of the most important tasks that you have for your marketing campaign. It is a daunting task indeed especially because your designer is also a partner that you should trust with your reputation. Whatever they do for you; whatever the result they can produce for your company will be the thing that would make that first impression to your target clients.

So how do you find the right partner for your postcard marketing? Have you found the most appropriate designer for your color flyers or full color business cards? What do you need to know when choosing your designer?

During the initial stages of your marketing campaign, here are some of the things you should ask your designer:

A little something about himself or herself.
It may be moot but the first thing you need to do is ask your designer to tell you a little bit about him or her. Everybody must be able to answer this one. If not, then that person may not be the right one for the job. I mean, this is a particularly good question when you want to find out a sort of summary of the person's qualities. You may not want to hear about his or her recent break-up, or even that she just had her belly button pierced last weekend. But you definitely would want to know a little something of his or her life, especially about his or her work.

How long has he or she been designing?
Years of experience do count when you finally choose your designer for your marketing campaign such as your postcard marketing, color flyers and even your full color business cards. If they've been in the business for long, that's one indication that they're good at what they do. And as they say, experience is the better teacher if you want to be an expert in your field.

Where does he or she works? Do they have an office? Are they working freelance?
Actually, it doesn't matter that much if your designer works in an office or even at the home garage. The reason why you're asking this is that so you'll know his or her regular works hours, as well as how informal or formal is his or her work space.

Describe the organization.
This includes how many people are there working in the office. Or if it's a home-based thing, then are there any other people working with the designer?

What's the specialty?
It may be postcard marketing, postcard printing, color flyers or full color business cards. When your designer has a specialty, you won't have a hard time identifying what that person can give as a result. You'd even be able to bargain better if you know what he or she is best at.

Moreover, don't forget to ask about the costs of getting him or her as your designer, their turn-around time, and how you should pay for the job.

The bottom line is to ask your potential designer until you will be satisfied with his or her credentials. The more you ask, the better it is for you to get the information you need to decide on your design partner for your business.
